Overall my survey shows that the majority of people in my audience will be female, however some males took the survey so I should aim the magazine at both male and female audiences. The survey also shows that the magazine should be aimed at people aged 16-20. From the people who took the essay 36.4% listened to Rap music often and 18.2% listen to it occasionally , however 63.6% listen to R&B music, as R&B and Rap are similar I could put an R&B section into the magazine to draw a wider audience to the magazine. From the audience the majority of people do not buy music magazines, but from the people who do the majority buy them fortnightly. The majority of the prices suggested were between £2.50 and £3.00; this shows that people are willing to pay a reasonable amount for the magazine considering they don’t kn0ow what the content of the magazine will be. For the content of the magazine 90.9% of the people who done the questionnaire said they’d like to read about established artists, however 54.5% said they wanted to read about up and coming artists. The majority also said they’d rather read about rappers from the UK rather than from the USA.
This means that I will have a section of the magazine to focus on established UK artists, and a section for up and coming artists from the UK, and as people said they would read about USA artists I would have a small section about USA rappers and some people who are breaking through in the USA. The majority of people wanted to have information about tour dates in the magazine; they would also like to read interviews with artists. As most people want these I would have a big section for an interview with an artist and have a section for tour dates relating to that artists and other artists featured in the magazine. People also said they would like the magazine to incorporate fashion, so I would have a section for the latest fashion trends and where to buy clothes that artists wear.
I would also have a new section about the new music that is coming out soon, such as downloads and albums.
The 100% of the people who took the questionnaire said that they download their music where as only 9.1% buy CD’s so rather than offering a free CD i would have coupons for a free download or something as a freebie.
The majority of people want informal language to be used in the magazine, so I will use informal language as it appeals more to the target audience.
